CMBL Antibody (F-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects CMBL (Carboxymethylenebutenolidase homolog) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CMBL is a 245 amino acid cytosolic protein and cysteine hydrolase that plays a crucial role in the cleavage of cyclic esters, functioning as a bioactivating enzyme for the prodrug olmesartan medoxomil, an angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist. This protein is a member of the dienelactone hydrolase family and serves as the human homolog of Pseudomonas dienelactone hydrolase, which is involved in the bacterial halocatechol degradation pathway. CMBL is widely expressed, with particularly high levels found in the liver, colon, kidney, and small intestine, highlighting its importance in metabolic processes. CMBL is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 5p15.2, a region that is significant not only for its size—comprising nearly 6% of the human genome—but also for its association with various genetic disorders, including Cri du chat syndrome and certain types of leukemia. CMBL is inhibited by p-chloromercuribenzoate (PCMB), which can be a critical consideration in experimental settings. Anti-CMBL antibody (F-3) provides a valuable tool for researchers investigating the functional roles of this enzyme in health and disease.
