CLIC1 Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects chloride intracellular channel 1 (CLIC1) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CLIC1 is a crucial protein that plays a significant role in cellular ion homeostasis and signaling, functioning as an anion-selective channel that can exist in both soluble and integral membrane forms. CLIC1′s ability to form dimers upon oxidation allows for the formation of chloride ion channels in cellular membranes, which are essential for various physiological processes, including cell volume regulation and electrical excitability. CLIC1′s redox-active site, which is similar to that of glutaredoxin, highlights CLIC1′s involvement in cellular redox signaling pathways. CLIC1 is implicated in macrophage activation, and CLIC1′s downregulation has been linked to the inhibition of tumor necrosis factor-alpha release in response to β-Amyloid protein stimulation, suggesting a potential role in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer′s disease.
