SEE ALSO...

CLIC1 Antibody (356.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CLIC1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CLIC1 (356.1) antibody is available in a non-conjugated form, providing flexibility for various experimental needs. Chloride intracellular channel 1 (CLIC1), also known as NCC27, is a crucial member of a highly conserved family of chloride ion channels that can exist in both soluble and integral membrane forms. CLIC1 is primarily located in the cytoplasm and can translocate to the plasma membrane, where CLIC1 plays a vital role in regulating chloride ion transport across cellular membranes. This transport is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis, influencing processes such as cell volume regulation, signal transduction, and muscle contraction. Notably, CLIC1′s ability to form anion-selective channels is modulated by redox state; CLIC1 exists as a monomer in a reduced environment but dimerizes upon oxidation, facilitating channel formation in lipid bilayers and vesicles. Furthermore, CLIC1 is implicated in macrophage activation, and CLIC1 downregulation has been linked to impaired tumor necrosis factor-alpha release in response to β-Amyloid protein stimulation, highlighting potential involvement in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer′s. Insulin regulation of CLIC1, which may induce subnuclear relocalization, further underscores significance in cellular signaling pathways.

Can CLIC1 (356.1): sc-81873 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jenni
Thank you for your question. Yes, CLIC1 (356.1): sc-81873 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
