SEE ALSO...

CLCA1 Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CLCA1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-CLCA1 antibody (E-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The calcium-activated chloride channel protein family, which includes CLCA1, plays a crucial role in regulating ion transport across epithelial cell membranes, thereby influencing fluid secretion and mucosal hydration. This function is particularly important in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts, where proper chloride ion transport is essential for maintaining mucus viscosity and facilitating effective mucociliary clearance. Dysregulation of CLCA1 has been implicated in various airway diseases, including cystic fibrosis, where excessive mucus production can lead to severe respiratory complications. CLCA1 is upregulated by interleukin-9, which further highlights its role in inflammatory responses and potential as a therapeutic target for controlling mucus overproduction. The distinct expression patterns of other members of the CLCA family, such as CLCA2, which is downregulated in breast cancer and may act as a tumor suppressor, underscore the diverse biological functions and clinical significance of this protein family.
