    SEE ALSO...

CIB Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CIB protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CIB (G-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CIB protein, known for its role as a calcium- and integrin-binding protein, is crucial in regulating the function of Integrin α2b/β3 (GPIIb/IIIa), which serves as the platelet fibrinogen receptor, facilitating the binding of proteins to integrin cytoplasmic domains. The interaction of CIB with the cytoplasmic domain of α2b is mediated by positively charged residues, and this binding is sensitive to changes in intracellular calcium levels, highlighting CIB′s importance in platelet aggregation and signaling. CIB′s cellular localization is dynamic, as CIB translocates to the Triton X-100-insoluble cytoskeleton in aggregated platelets, indicating a regulatory role in cellular processes. Beyond integrin interaction, CIB also binds to DNA-PKcs, a nuclear protein serine/threonine kinase involved in DNA repair and lymphoid development, suggesting CIB may function as a regulatory subunit for polo-like kinases. With significant homology to calcineurin B and calmodulin, CIB mRNA is widely expressed across various human tissues, underscoring CIB′s potential relevance in diverse biological contexts.
