CEP55 Antibody (D-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects CEP55 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CEP55, also known as URCC6 (up-regulated in colon cancer 6), is a 464 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in regulating mitotic exit and cytokinesis, making CEP55 essential for proper cell division. CEP55 is predominantly localized to the centrosome during interphase and found throughout the cell during mitosis, highlighting CEP55′s dynamic nature and importance in cell cycle progression. CEP55 expression is widespread, with highest levels found in testis and lower levels in tissues such as thymus, bone marrow, placenta, fetal heart, and various carcinomas. CEP55 exists as a homodimer and interacts with centrosome components, which is vital for CEP55′s function in cell division. Human CEP55 undergoes multiple phosphorylation events throughout the cell cycle, which are critical for activity; mutations or defects in CEP55 can lead to failure in exiting mitosis and may contribute to tumor progression. Alternative splicing of CEP55 results in two isoforms, adding another layer of complexity to regulation and function. With significant roles in cell division and potential implications in cancer biology, anti-CEP55 antibody (D-12) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying cell cycle dynamics and related pathologies.
