CEP55 Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CEP55 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-CEP55 antibody (B-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CEP55, also known as centrosomal protein of 55 kDa or URCC6 (up-regulated in colon cancer 6), is a crucial 464 amino acid protein that plays a significant role in cell division by localizing to the centrosome during interphase and redistributing throughout the cell during mitosis. CEP55 interacts with various centrosome components, making proper function vital for mitotic exit and cytokinesis. CEP55 is widely expressed, with highest levels found in the testis and lower levels in tissues such as the thymus, bone marrow, placenta, fetal heart, and digestive tract, as well as in several carcinomas. Human CEP55 undergoes multiple phosphorylation events throughout the cell cycle, which are essential for functionality; mutations or defects in the gene encoding CEP55 can lead to failure in exiting mitosis and may be linked to tumor progression. Two isoforms of CEP55 arise from alternative splicing, further highlighting the complexity and importance in cellular processes.
