Cdk8 Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Cdk8 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin through applications such as western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Cdk8 (D-9) antibody is offered in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cdk8 plays a crucial role in regulating cell cycle progression, functioning as part of a larger family of cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) that work in tandem with cyclins to phosphorylate essential substrates at different phases of the cell cycle. This regulation is vital for maintaining proper cellular function and ensuring that cells divide accurately and at the right time. Cdk8 forms large complexes with cyclin C and the large subunit of RNA polymerase II, suggesting involvement in transcriptional regulation. By modulating RNA polymerase II activity, Cdk8 influences gene expression, which is critical for various cellular processes, including growth and differentiation. Cdk8 acts as a transcriptional activator when fused to the DNA binding domain of GAL4, highlighting importance in transcriptional control.
