SEE ALSO...

CD98 Antibody (4F2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CD98 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-CD98 antibody (4F2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD98, also known as SLC3A2, is a disulfide-linked heterodimer consisting of a glycosylated heavy chain and a non-glycosylated light chain, which plays a crucial role in cellular functions. CD98 is primarily located in the plasma membrane of various cell types, including T cells, monocytes, and to a lesser extent, granulocytes and platelets. CD98 functions as a scaffolding protein that interacts with basolaterally expressed amino acid transporters and β1 integrins, thereby influencing amino acid transport, cell adhesion, migration, and branching morphogenesis. CD98 is upregulated upon T cell activation, suggesting involvement in the regulation of T cell activation and proliferation. Alternate transcriptional splice variants exist for the human CD98 gene, encoding different isoforms that may have distinct functional roles.

Can CD98 (4F2): sc-59145 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD98 (4F2): sc-59145 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
