SEE ALSO...

CD8 Antibody (MCD8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CD8 protein of human origin by immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-CD8 antibody (MCD8) is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing versatility for various experimental needs. CD8 protein, also known as Leu 2 or T8, is a crucial cell surface glycoprotein that forms a two-chain complex, either as αα or αβ, which interacts with class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules presented by antigen-presenting cells. This interaction is vital for the immune response, as CD8 plays a significant role in facilitating antigen recognition by the T cell receptor (TCR) and enhancing the strength of TCR-antigen interactions. Additionally, CD8-expressing T cells are essential for the cytotoxic response against infected or malignant cells, and may also contribute to the maintenance of low levels of HIV expression in infected individuals. CD8′s ability to strengthen TCR signaling underscores its importance in adaptive immunity, making CD8 (MCD8) monoclonal antibody an invaluable tool for researchers studying T cell function and immune responses.

Can CD8 (MCD8): sc-51735 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD8 (MCD8): sc-51735 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
