CD8 Antibody (2.43) is a rat monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects CD8 in mouse samples through immunofluorescence (IF) and flow cytometry (FCM) applications. CD8 is a crucial cell surface glycoprotein that forms a heterodimer, typically existing as either an αα or αβ chain complex, and plays a vital role in the immune response by binding to class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules presented by antigen-presenting cells. This interaction is essential for T cytotoxic cells, which express CD8, as CD8 enhances the recognition of antigens by the T cell receptor (TCR), thereby strengthening the immune response against infected or malignant cells. Additionally, CD8-expressing T cells are implicated in maintaining low levels of HIV expression, highlighting their importance not only in direct cytotoxicity but also in regulating viral load. The ability of CD8 to facilitate antigen recognition and enhance TCR avidity underscores CD8′s significance in adaptive immunity, making anti-CD8 antibody (2.43) an invaluable tool for researchers studying T cell dynamics and immune responses in mouse models.

Can CD8 (2.43): sc-18860 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD8 (2.43): sc-18860 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

Is this antibody suitable for CD8 detection in frozen tissue sections?

Asked by: HFerreira
Thank you for your question. Yes this antibody, sc-18860: CD8 (2.43), is recommended for detection of CD8 in frozen tissue sections of mouse origin, or IF in our product description, which is our abbreviation for immunohistochemistry in frozen tissue sections fixed in acetone, or immunofluorescent staining on methanol-fixed cells.
