CD8-α Antibody (0.N.66) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against the C-terminus of human CD8-α, suitable for detecting CD8-α of human, mouse, and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). CD8-α, also known as CD8A, Leu-2, or T8 antigen, is a transmembrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on the plasma membrane of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CD8+ T cells) and some natural killer cells. CD8-α localization on the cell surface is crucial for functioning as a co-receptor with the T cell receptor (TCR), where CD8-α binds to MHC class I molecules presented by antigen-presenting cells (APCs), enhancing antigen recognition and signal transduction. This interaction is essential for the activation, development, and cytotoxic function of CD8+ T cells, playing a significant role in immune surveillance against intracellular pathogens and tumor cells.
