CD63 Antibody (NK1/C3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody engineered to detect the CD63 protein of human origin. Anti-CD63 antibody (NK1/C3) effectively recognizes CD63 expressed on activated platelets, granulocytes, B cells, and T cells, and is recommended for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP) applications. CD63, also known as LAMP-3, Melanoma-associated antigen ME491, and TSPAN30, is a crucial member of the tetraspanin family of proteins that reside primarily within lysosomal membranes and translocate to the cell surface upon cellular activation. This translocation is essential for processes such as cell adhesion, migration, and signal transduction, which are vital for immune cell function and response. Located on the basophilic granule membranes and the plasma membranes of lymphocytes and granulocytes, CD63 plays a significant role in forming multi-molecular complexes with integrins, facilitating interactions essential for cellular communication and immune responses. Additionally, CD63 is integral to phagocytic activities and the fusion of lysosomes with phagosomes, key steps in intracellular degradation and recycling mechanisms. As a member of the TM4 superfamily of leukocyte glycoproteins, CD63 shares structural characteristics with other proteins such as CD9, CD37, and CD53, all containing four transmembrane domains. Deficiency in CD63 is associated with Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome, highlighting its importance in normal physiological processes.
