SEE ALSO...

CD4 Antibody (18-46) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody, specifically designed to target the human CD4 protein, also known as T4 or Leu 3. Anti-CD4 antibody (18-46) is recommended for use in immunofluorescence (IF) and flow cytometry (FCM) applications, effectively recognizing CD4 expressed on various human cell types including T helper cells, cortical cells, mature medullary thymocytes, microglial cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 is a membrane glycoprotein composed of four extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains, playing a crucial role in the immune system by enhancing the binding affinity between the T cell receptor (TCR) and class II major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules presented by antigen-presenting cells. This interaction is essential for effective T cell activation and signal transduction, facilitating robust immune responses against pathogens. Additionally, CD4 serves as a primary receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), making CD4 a pivotal target in studies of viral entry and immune system impairment. CD4 monoclonal antibody (18-46) is instrumental in both research and clinical settings for identifying and characterizing CD4-positive cells, thereby contributing to advancements in immunology and therapeutic development. Anti-CD4 antibody (18-46) supports critical research in areas such as autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases, and immunotherapy.

Can CD4 (18-46): sc-1176 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, CD4 (18-46): sc-1176 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
