SEE ALSO...

CD38 Antibody (AT13/5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CD38 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD38 Antibody (AT13/5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD38 is a type II integral membrane glycoprotein predominantly located on early B and T cell lineages, activated B and T cells, and is notably absent from most mature resting peripheral lymphocytes. CD38′s presence on thymocytes, pre-B cells, germinal center B cells, mitogen-activated T cells, monocytes, and immunoglobulin-secreting plasma cells highlights CD38′s critical role in immune response. Functionally, CD38 acts as a NAD glycohydrolase, facilitating the activation, proliferation, and differentiation of mature T and B cells while also mediating apoptosis in myeloid and lymphoid progenitor cells. Beyond CD38′s role as a signaling receptor, CD38 is an enzyme that generates several calcium-mobilizing metabolites, including cyclic adenosine diphosphate ribose (cADPR), which are essential for various cellular processes. Furthermore, CD38 is vital for the survival of invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells, which are crucial for maintaining immunological tolerance, thereby underscoring CD38′s importance in both adaptive and innate immunity.
