SEE ALSO...

CD35 Antibody (To5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CD35 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD35 (To5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD35, also known as complement receptor 1 (CR1), plays a crucial role in the immune system by serving as a receptor for complement components C3b and C4b, which are essential for the opsonization and subsequent phagocytosis of pathogens by neutrophils and monocytes. This function is vital for the clearance of immune complexes and pathogens, thereby preventing excessive inflammation and tissue damage. CD35 is predominantly expressed on granulocytes, monocytes, B cells, certain natural killer cells, and erythrocytes, highlighting CD35′s importance in both innate and adaptive immunity. Notably, alterations in CD35 expression and function have been implicated in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by the production of a wide array of autoantibodies and immune complex accumulation. In SLE patients, there is an observed increase in the proteolytic cleavage of leukocyte surface CD35, which may contribute to the dysregulation of immune responses. Sequence analysis indicates that Crry may represent the mouse genetic homolog of human CD35 antigen encoded by the CR1 gene, further emphasizing CD35′s relevance in both human and murine models of immune function.
