CD3 Antibody (5B2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody engineered to target the CD3 molecule, a fundamental component of the T cell receptor complex also known as the TCR-CD3 complex or cluster of differentiation 3. CD3 plays an essential role in T cell activation and signal transduction, comprising a multisubunit structure that includes the CD3γ, CD3δ, CD3ε, and CD3ζ chains. This complex forms three distinct dimers, γε, δε, and ζζ or ζη, which are crucial for transmitting extracellular antigen recognition into intracellular signaling pathways. The structural integrity of CD3 is vital because it contains immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs (ITAMs) that facilitate the recruitment and activation of protein kinases such as ZAP-70 and Syk, thereby initiating downstream immune responses.
