    SEE ALSO...

CD2 Antibody (OX55) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CD2 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD2 is a crucial transmembrane glycoprotein primarily expressed on peripheral blood T lymphocytes, natural killer cells, and thymocytes, as well as on mouse B cells and rat splenic macrophages. CD2 (OX55) antibody recognizes a protein that plays a vital role in immune response by mediating cell adhesion through interaction with CD58, also known as the CD2 ligand. The binding of CD2 to CD58 enhances antigen-specific T cell activation, which is essential for effective immune system functioning. The structural integrity of CD2, particularly its amino-terminal domain, is critical for interaction with CD58, facilitating optimal immune recognition and communication between helper T lymphocytes and antigen-presenting cells, as well as between cytolytic effectors and target cells. The broad tissue distribution of CD58, a heavily glycosylated protein, further underscores the importance of the CD2/CD58 interaction in various immune processes, making anti-CD2 antibody (OX55) an invaluable tool for researchers studying immune cell dynamics and activation pathways.

How can CD2 (OX55): sc-53038 mouse monoclonal antibody be used for double or triple staining, if the other primary antibodies are also raised in mouse?

    Asked by: AbPolly
In this case, we recommend using a directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibody. This antibody is available conjugated to phycoerythrin (sc-53038 PE) or fluoroscein (sc-53038 FITC).
