CD151 Antibody (H-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CD151 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD151 (H-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD151 plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and integrin transport via vesicles, which is essential for maintaining tissue structural integrity and facilitating cellular communication. Located primarily in the plasma membrane, CD151 is a member of the tetraspanin superfamily and is involved in forming specialized junctional complexes known as hemidesmosomes, which anchor cells to the extracellular matrix. The human CD151 gene is mapped to chromosome 11p15.5 and encodes a 253-amino acid protein that interacts with various integrin chains, including β1, β3, β4, α2, α3, α5, and α6 integrins, thereby influencing cell motility, invasion, and metastasis in cancer cells through focal adhesion kinase-dependent pathways. RNA transcript of CD151 can be detected in several cell types, including MO7e cells, bone marrow stromal cells, C11 endothelial cells, and human umbilical vein endothelial cells, while absent in brain tissue and certain lymphoblastoid cell lines. The specific region of CD151, Leu149-Glu213, serves as the binding interface for integrins, highlighting its importance in cellular interactions and signaling pathways.
