CD13 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects CD13 in human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD13, also known as aminopeptidase N, is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on myeloid cells such as monocytes, basophils, eosinophils, and neutrophils, as well as in certain epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and osteoclasts. CD13 functions as a zinc-binding metalloprotease, playing a crucial role in the digestion of peptides and the inactivation of regulatory peptides like enkephalins, which are important for pain modulation and stress response. CD13 expression is particularly significant in cancer, as CD13 has been implicated in enhancing the invasive capacity and metastatic behavior of cancer cells. Inhibiting CD13 activity can lead to apoptosis in CD13-positive cancer cells, making CD13 a potential target for therapeutic intervention. Furthermore, basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) expression has been shown to upregulate CD13 in human melanoma cells, highlighting the regulatory mechanisms that influence CD13 expression and the potential implications for tumor progression. Anti-CD13 antibody (A-5) is an essential tool for researchers investigating CD13 roles in both normal physiology and pathological conditions.
