SEE ALSO...

Cathepsin L Antibody (33/2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody designed to detect cathepsin L protein, also known as CTSL, major excreted protein (MEP), or CATL. Anti-cathepsin L antibody (33/2) is raised against human procathepsin L and demonstrates strong reactivity with both cathepsin L and its proenzyme form in human samples, as well as cross-reactivity with mouse and rat species, making this antibody ideal for western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Cathepsin L is a critical lysosomal cysteine protease involved in intracellular degradation of proteins such as collagen, elastin, and α-1 protease inhibitor, playing a vital role in cellular metabolism and protein catabolism. This protease is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and is implicated in numerous physiological processes, including tissue remodeling and immune responses. Available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, cathepsin L (33/2) antibody offers flexibility for different detection methods. As a member of the peptidase C1 family, cathepsin L functions as a dimer composed of disulfide-linked heavy and light chains derived from a single precursor protein, ensuring reliable and consistent performance in research. Whether investigating protein degradation pathways, cellular metabolism, or the role of proteases in disease, cathepsin L monoclonal antibody (33/2) provides specificity and versatility needed to advance scientific discoveries.

I am using cathepsin L (33/2): sc-32320 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Germaine
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
