SEE ALSO...

Catalase Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects catalase protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-catalase antibody (H-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Catalase is a crucial enzyme located primarily in peroxisomes, where catalase plays a vital role in the detoxification of hydrogen peroxide, a harmful byproduct of cellular metabolism. By converting hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen, catalase helps maintain cellular homeostasis and protects cells from oxidative damage, which is particularly important in preventing cellular aging and the development of various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Defects in the gene encoding catalase can lead to acatalasia, a rare condition characterized by the absence of catalase activity in red blood cells, resulting in severe oral lesions and increased susceptibility to oxidative stress. The ability of catalase to form a homotetramer enhances catalase stability and efficiency, making catalase an essential component of the cellular antioxidant defense system.

I am looking at this catalase antibody. Is it known whether it cross reacts with the corresponding Drosophila protein? I would need to use it for immunofluorescence.

Asked by: Michael
Thank you for your question. We have not validated the antibody for Drosophila. The antibody is recommended for mouse, rat and human samples.

What is the difference between sc-271803 and sc-271803 P?

Asked by: jenni
Thank you for your question. sc-271803 P is our blocking peptide, meant as a negative control for use with the catalase (H-9): sc-271803 monoclonal antibody.

What secondary is best to use with catalase (H-9): sc-271803?

Asked by: jenni
Thank you for your question. While most anti-mouse IgG secondary antibodies are appropriate for use with catalase (H-9):sc-271803, we recommend using one our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins as a secondary detection reagent. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
