SEE ALSO...

CARP Antibody (G-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CARP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CARP (G-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The cardiac ankyrin repeat protein (CARP) plays a crucial role in regulating cardiac gene expression, particularly in response to stress conditions such as cardiac hypertrophy. Located primarily in the nucleus, CARP is essential for modulating transcriptional activity of genes involved in cardiac function. CARP expression is significantly upregulated in pathological conditions, such as in rats with abdominal aorta constriction and in patients with end-stage heart failure, highlighting CARP′s potential as a genetic marker for cardiac hypertrophy. Notably, CARP interacts with cardiac homeobox gene Nkx2.5, inhibiting its transactivation of the atrial natriuretic factor promoter, which is vital for maintaining normal cardiac function. Additionally, CARP expression is influenced by Calsequestrin, a major calcium-binding protein in cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum, which may further link CARP to the development of cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis. Furthermore, transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) has been shown to induce CARP expression in vascular smooth muscle cells, suggesting CARP may play a role in mediating TGFβ′s inhibitory effects on cell proliferation, thereby contributing to cardiovascular health.
