Calgizzarin Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Calgizzarin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Calgizzarin antibody (B-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Calgizzarin, a member of the S100 protein family, is a calcium-binding protein characterized by two EF-hand motifs, which are crucial for regulating intracellular calcium levels. This regulation is vital for numerous cellular processes, including muscle contraction, cell growth, and signal transduction pathways. Expression of Calgizzarin is predominantly found in lung tissue, but also present in kidney, liver, brain, heart, and smooth muscle, highlighting diverse roles in various tissues. Notably, Calgizzarin is an androgen-responsive protein produced by Sertoli cells, suggesting involvement in spermatogenesis regulation, which is essential for male fertility. Additionally, dysregulation of Calgizzarin has been implicated in several pathologies, including neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, making this protein a significant target for research in understanding these conditions.
