    SEE ALSO...

cadherin-23 Antibody (H-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects cadherin-23 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-cadherin-23 antibody (H-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. cadherin-23 plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and is essential for proper functioning of sensory cells in the inner ear and retina. Localization in the inner ear is particularly important, as cadherin-23 is found at the tips of hair cells where adherens junctions form that are vital for mechanotransduction—the process by which sound vibrations convert into electrical signals. Mutations in cadherin-23 can disrupt these junctions, leading to inherited disorders such as Usher syndrome type 1D (USH1D), characterized by congenital sensorineural hearing loss, vestibular dysfunction, and visual impairment due to early onset of retinitis pigmentosa. cadherin-23 interacts with myosin VIIIa and harmonin, forming a functional network critical during hair cell differentiation. Various cadherin-23 splice variants further complicate phenotypic expression of associated diseases, highlighting cadherin-23′s importance in both cellular structure and function.
