CA IV Antibody (G-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects carbonic anhydrase IV (CA IV) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CA IV is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored protein located on the outer surface of the plasma membrane, primarily found on the plasma face of microcapillaries and in the choriocapillaris of the human eye. This strategic localization allows CA IV to effectively catalyze the hydration-dehydration of carbon dioxide and bicarbonate, playing a vital role in renal acidification and the regulation of interstitial pH transients in the brain. CA IV′s activity is essential for maintaining acid-base balance and facilitating various physiological processes, including respiration and the formation of aqueous humor, cerebrospinal fluid, saliva, and gastric acid. Disruption in CA IV targeting can lead to impaired bicarbonate secretion, which is associated with dysfunction in cystic fibrosis cells, highlighting CA IV′s importance in both health and disease. Anti-CA IV antibody (G-11) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying the diverse roles of carbonic anhydrases in different tissues and their implications in various pathophysiological conditions.
