SEE ALSO...

CA III Antibody (F-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects CA III protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CA III (F-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) are a significant family of zinc metalloenzymes that play a crucial role in catalyzing the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide, which is vital for maintaining acid-base balance and facilitating various physiological processes. Specifically, CA III, also known as Car3 or CA3, is a 260 amino acid cytoplasmic protein predominantly expressed in muscle tissue, where CA III contributes to the regulation of pH and carbon dioxide levels during muscle metabolism. CA III′s unique structure, characterized by its dimeric form and zinc-binding site, is essential for enzymatic activity, allowing CA III to efficiently convert carbon dioxide to bicarbonate and protons. This function is particularly important in muscle cells, where rapid changes in pH can occur during intense physical activity. CA III is activated by proton donors such as imidazole and dipeptide histidylhistidine, while CA III activity can be inhibited by compounds like coumarins and sulfonamide derivatives, including acetazolamide, making CA III a target for therapeutic interventions in conditions related to acid-base imbalances.
