CA II Antibody (G-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects CA II protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CA II (G-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) are a significant family of zinc metalloenzymes that play a crucial role in catalyzing the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide, which is vital for maintaining acid-base balance in the body. CA II, encoded by the human CA2 gene located on chromosome 8q21, is predominantly found in the cytoplasm and is known for its high turnover rate and extensive tissue distribution, making CA II essential for various physiological processes such as respiration, bone resorption, and the formation of bodily fluids like saliva and gastric juice. Additionally, CA II interacts with other proteins, including the sodium bicarbonate cotransporter, which is important for regulating intracellular pH and bicarbonate transport.
