c-Myc Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 415-437 of human c-Myc, a pivotal transcription factor involved in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. c-Myc mouse monoclonal antibody (C-12) recognizes an epitope within the c-Myc immunogen sequence and demonstrates effectiveness in Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation applications. Anti-c-Myc monoclonal antibody (C-12) enables researchers to study critical protein interactions that regulate c-Myc′s transcriptional activity. The most significant of these interactions involves Max, a basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLH-Zip) protein that forms heterodimers with c-Myc, enabling sequence-specific DNA binding and activation of genes controlling cell cycle progression. This interaction is dynamically regulated by Mad1, a transcriptional repressor that competes with c-Myc for Max binding. When Mad1 succeeds in forming heterodimers with Max, these complexes actively repress transcription, effectively antagonizing c-Myc-driven gene expression and helping control cell proliferation. Beyond these regulatory partnerships, c-Myc also interacts with TRRAP (Transformation/transcription domain-associated protein), which recruits histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complexes to facilitate chromatin remodeling and transcriptional activation of genes involved in cell growth and metabolism. This intricate network of protein interactions highlights the sophisticated mechanisms controlling c-Myc activity in both normal cellular processes and oncogenic transformation. c-Myc (C-12) antibody, with its specificity for the C-terminal region, serves as a valuable tool for researchers investigating these complex regulatory networks and their implications in cancer biology.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-398624 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
