c-Myc Antibody (6A10) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody raised against amino acids 1-262 of human c-Myc. c-Myc rat monoclonal antibody (6A10) recognizes an epitope within the N-terminal region and demonstrates effectiveness in Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation applications. Anti-c-Myc monoclonal antibody (6A10) serves as a valuable tool for investigating c-Myc expression, regulation, and activity in various tissues and disease models. The c-Myc protein is a highly conserved transcription factor central to regulating key cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, metabolism, and apoptosis. As a member of the Myc family, which includes N-Myc and L-Myc, c-Myc plays a critical role in controlling the expression of genes involved in cell cycle progression, particularly during the G1 to S phase transition, as well as genes regulating cellular growth and metabolism. c-Myc functions through a basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLH-Zip) domain, which enables heterodimerization with Max protein, an essential partner that allows c-Myc to bind specific DNA sequences known as E-box motifs (CACGTG). The c-Myc/Max complex acts as a key regulator of transcription, modulating the expression of numerous genes that drive cellular growth and division. In normal cellular function, c-Myc undergoes tight regulation to ensure proper cell cycle control and balanced cell growth. However, dysregulation or overexpression of c-Myc, often through gene amplification or chromosomal translocation, frequently occurs in cancers such as lung, breast, and colon carcinomas, contributing to uncontrolled cell proliferation, resistance to apoptosis, and neoplastic disease development. c-Myc (6A10) antibody recognition of the N-terminal region makes the antibody particularly useful for studying c-Myc′s role in cellular processes and dysregulation in cancer. c-Myc monoclonal antibody (6A10) proves essential for advancing the understanding of c-Myc′s involvement in oncogenic pathways, post-translational modifications, and the development of potential therapeutic interventions for c-Myc-driven cancers.

Are there any issues with using sc-53854: c-Myc (6A10) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-53854 conjugates.
