BSPII Antibody (ID1.2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects BSPII in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). BSPII, also known as bone sialoprotein II or integrin-binding sialoprotein, is a secreted acidic glycosylated, sulfated, and phosphorylated protein synthesized by osteoblasts, osteocytes, osteoclasts, hypertrophic chondrocytes, and other skeletal-associated cell types. As a major structural component of the bone matrix, BSPII constitutes approximately 12% of the noncollagenous proteins in human bone, which are crucial for regulating bone mineralization. BSPII plays a significant role in the initial mineralization process by nucleating hydroxyapatite crystal formation, thereby contributing to the development of bone, cementum, and dentin. Additionally, BSPII belongs to the SIBLING family of proteins and features an RGD sequence that interacts with the vitronectin receptor Integrin αV, facilitating cell attachment and signaling. Notably, BSPII is also expressed in various cancers, including lung, thyroid, breast, and prostate cancers, highlighting BSPII′s potential as a biomarker for tumor progression and a target for therapeutic interventions.
