Brk Antibody (D-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Brk of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Brk (D-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Brk, also known as breast tumor kinase or PTK6, is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a pivotal role in regulating cellular processes such as proliferation, survival, and motility through involvement in signal transduction pathways. Brk is primarily expressed in epithelial tissues, particularly in layers just above proliferative zones of the skin and alimentary canal lining, with highest mRNA levels found in colon, small intestine, and prostate. Brk expression is significantly upregulated in many breast carcinomas, while being absent in normal breast tissue, highlighting potential as a biomarker for cancer. Brk structure includes N-terminal SH3 and SH2 domains, which are essential for kinase activity and interactions with other signaling molecules. Brk is capable of autophosphorylation, a post-translational modification that may influence regulatory mechanisms and functional outcomes in cellular signaling.
