Borealin Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Borealin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Borealin (A-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Borealin protein, consisting of 280 amino acids, plays a crucial role in stabilizing the bipolar mitotic spindle, which is essential for accurate chromosome segregation during cell division. Located at the centromeres and the central spindle, Borealin is a key component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) alongside Aurora B kinase, which regulates critical processes during mitosis. Proper functioning of Borealin is vital, as deletion can lead to delayed mitotic progression and misattachment of kinetochores to the spindle, resulting in the formation of ectopic asters and extra spindle poles. Such abnormalities can severely disrupt chromosome allocation during anaphase, potentially leading to aneuploidy, a condition associated with various cancers, including gastric cancer. Study of Borealin and its interactions is essential for understanding the mechanisms of cell division and the implications of its dysregulation in cancer biology.
