BLVRB Antibody (B-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BLVRB protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-BLVRB antibody (B-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BLVRB protein, also known as biliverdin reductase B, flavin reductase, or NADPH-dependent diaphorase, plays a crucial role in fetal heme metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of biliverdin to bilirubin, a process vital for the detoxification of heme breakdown products. This enzyme is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and is highly expressed in fetal liver and adult erythrocytes, with lower levels found in the heart, lung, cerebrum, and adrenal gland. BLVRB′s ability to facilitate the reduction of biliverdin is essential for maintaining bilirubin levels, which are important for preventing oxidative stress and ensuring proper cellular function. Additionally, BLVRB contains a single binding site for its substrates and interacts with them primarily through hydrophobic interactions, which is significant for enzymatic activity. Furthermore, BLVRB exhibits ferric reductase activity and serves as a reliable marker for nitric oxide synthase, underscoring its importance in various biological processes.
