Datasheets
  • Biotin Antibody (39-15D9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b κ, cited in 19 publications, provided at 50 µg/0.5 ml
  • raised against full length Biotin
  • recommended for detection of Biotin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and ELISA; non cross-reactive with the free carrier protein; permits the formation of antibody-Biotin complexes, thus enhancing the sensitivity of the detection system
  • See Biotin (BK-1/39): sc-53179 for Biotin antibody conjugates, including AC, HRP, FITC, PE, Alexa Fluor® 488, 594, 647, 680 and 790.
  • m-IgG Fc BP-HRP is the preferred secondary detection reagent for Biotin Antibody (39-15D9) for WB and IHC(P) applications. This reagent is now offered in a bundle with Biotin Antibody (39-15D9) (see ordering information below).

Biotin Antibody (39-15D9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Biotin in non-species reactive applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Biotin antibody (39-15D9) is available in a non-conjugated form, allowing for versatile use in various experimental setups. Biotin, a water-soluble B complex vitamin, plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism, particularly in carboxylation reactions essential for synthesizing fatty acids and glucose, as well as in the metabolism of amino acids like leucine. Biotin′s unique structure, which includes a tetrahydrothiophene ring fused with an ureido ring, is vital for functioning as a coenzyme in carboxylase enzymes, facilitating critical metabolic pathways. While biotin is synthesized by certain microorganisms and plants, human intestinal bacteria also produce biotin, typically meeting daily requirements. Although biotin deficiency is rare, deficiency can lead to significant health issues, including dermatitis, hair loss, and neurological symptoms, underscoring biotin′s importance in maintaining overall health.
