BICD2 Antibody (E-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects BICD2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BICD2 Antibody (E-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BICD2, also known as bicaudal D homolog 2, plays a crucial role in intracellular transport and is essential for proper functioning of the Golgi apparatus. BICD2 consists of 824 amino acids and is expressed ubiquitously, localizing primarily to the Golgi apparatus, cytoplasm, and cytoskeleton. BICD2 is particularly important for recruiting the dynein-dynactin motor complex, which is vital for transport of vesicles from the Golgi to the endoplasmic reticulum, thereby facilitating efficient cellular communication and protein trafficking. Additionally, BICD2 interacts with Rab 6A on the trans-Golgi network and cytoplasmic vesicles, highlighting BICD2′s role in vesicular transport processes. BICD2 undergoes phosphorylation by NEK9, which can influence BICD2′s function and interactions. BICD2 exists in two isoforms due to alternative splicing and is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 9, making BICD2 a significant target for studies related to cellular transport mechanisms and their implications in various diseases.
