    SEE ALSO...

BICC1 Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BICC1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BICC1 (A-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BICC1, also known as protein bicaudal C homolog 1, is a 974 amino acid protein belonging to the BICC family and functions as a putative RNA-binding protein that regulates gene expression during embryonic development by modulating protein translation. BICC1 contains two KH domains and one sterile alpha motif (SAM) domain, and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, with isoform 1 showing higher expression, particularly in nerve tissue. BICC1 localizes predominantly in the cytoplasm and shows wide expression across various normal tissues, including all brain regions such as the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and midbrain. BICC1 can uncouple dishevelled-2 (Dvl-2) signaling from the canonical Wnt pathway in a SAM domain-dependent manner, suggesting distinct biological functions for different BICC1 isoforms. Genetic variants in the BICC1 gene, which maps to chromosome 10q21.1, have been implicated in recurrent unipolar major depression, highlighting potential relevance in neuropsychiatric disorders.
