β-glucosidase Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects β-glucosidase protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). β-glucosidase Antibody (B-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. β-glucosidase plays a crucial role in the hydrolysis of β-D-glucosides and β-D-galactosides, primarily in the liver, which is essential for the metabolism of complex carbohydrates and the recycling of cellular components. Deficiencies in β-glucosidase activity lead to the accumulation of glucosylceramide, resulting in Gaucher disease, a genetic disorder that significantly impacts the reticuloendothelial system and can lead to severe health complications. β-glucosidase is also vital in the absorption of dietary flavonoid glycosides, as β-glucosidase facilitates a necessary deglycosylation step in the intestinal epithelium, highlighting β-glucosidase′s importance in both metabolic processes and therapeutic applications, particularly in enzyme replacement therapies for Gaucher disease.

I am using β-glucosidase (B-6): sc-166407 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: jenniferc
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
