β-dystroglycan Antibody (7D11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects β-dystroglycan of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. β-dystroglycan (7D11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Dystroglycan plays a crucial role as a cell surface receptor for several extracellular matrix molecules, such as laminins, agrin, and perlecan, which are essential for the formation of basement membranes during early development and the organization of laminin on the cell surface. β-dystroglycan consists of two subunits, α-dystroglycan and β-dystroglycan, which together form a complex that maintains the integrity of muscle and nerve tissues. This complex anchors the cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix and facilitates communication between the inside and outside of the cell, influencing cellular signaling pathways. β-dystroglycan′s interaction with dystrophin at the sarcolemma and with utrophin at the neuromuscular junction underscores its significance in muscle function and neuromuscular transmission, making β-dystroglycan essential for both muscle integrity and synaptic organization.
