β-Actin Antibody (C4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specifically raised against chicken gizzard actin. Anti-β-actin antibody (C4) is recommended for detecting β-actin in various species, including mouse, rat, human, avian, bovine, canine, porcine, rabbit, Dictyostelium discoideum, and Physarum polycephalum, by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). β-Actin is a critical component of the cytoskeleton in eukaryotic cells, contributing to cell structure, motility, and division. β-Actin′s high conservation across species makes anti-β-actin antibody (C4) ideal for cross-reactivity studies in both mammalian and non-mammalian cells. Actin filaments form the dynamic backbone of cellular structures like microvilli and are essential for muscle cell contractility. β-Actin and γ-actin, the primary cytoplasmic isoforms, are found in a wide range of tissues, while α-actin is primarily expressed in muscle cells. Small GTPase family members, including Rho, Rac, and Cdc42, regulate actin filament organization, controlling cellular processes like stress fiber formation, membrane ruffling, and filopodia formation. Post-translational modifications of β-actin include arginylation, where arginyltransferase (ATE1) adds an arginine residue to β-actin. This arginylation plays a crucial role in regulating actin cytoskeleton dynamics, essential for cell movement, shape, and adhesion. β-Actin arginylation influences interactions with other cytoskeletal proteins, affecting cell migration and tissue development. Dysregulation of β-actin arginylation can contribute to diseases like cancer, where altered cell motility and invasion are key factors. β-Actin monoclonal antibody (C4) is available in non-conjugated forms and conjugated versions with agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, offering versatility for various laboratory applications.
