SEE ALSO...

BBS2 Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BBS2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BBS2 Antibody (A-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BBS2 protein, consisting of 721 amino acids, plays a crucial role in cilia function, which is essential for various cellular processes, including signaling pathways and cellular movement. Cilia dysfunction is implicated in Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), a complex genetic disorder characterized by obesity, photoreceptor degeneration, polydactyly, and renal abnormalities. BBS2 shows evolutionary conservation and expression across multiple tissues, including brain, kidney, adrenal gland, and thyroid gland, highlighting a fundamental role in maintaining cellular homeostasis and function. BBS2 deficiencies can lead to significant health issues, including social interaction defects and infertility, as well as progressive loss of photoreceptors in the retina, underscoring BBS2′s critical nature in both developmental and physiological contexts.
