Datasheets
  • Barttin Antibody (A-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 κ Barttin antibody provided at 200 µg/ml
  • specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 89-117 near the N-terminus of Barttin of human origin
  • recommended for detection of Barttin isoforms 1 and 2 of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and ELISA
  • m-IgG3 BP-HRP and m-IgGκ BP-HRP are the preferred secondary detection reagents for Barttin Antibody (A-1) for WB and IHC(P) applications. These reagents are now offered in bundles with Barttin Antibody (A-1) (see ordering information below).

    SEE ALSO...

Barttin Antibody (A-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects Barttin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Barttin antibody (A-1) is available as the non-conjugated form. The BSND gene encodes Barttin, a protein characterized by two putative transmembrane alpha helices, which play a crucial role in functioning as a b subunit for chloride channels CLCKNA and CLCKNB. This interaction is vital for proper renal salt reabsorption and potassium recycling in the inner ear, highlighting Barttin′s importance in maintaining electrolyte balance and auditory function. Barttin (A-1) antibody detects expression predominantly in the thin limb and thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle in the kidney, as well as in the dark cells of the inner ear, where Barttin co-localizes with chloride channels in basolateral membranes of renal tubules and potassium-secreting epithelia. Mutations in BSND are associated with Bartter syndrome, a genetic disorder leading to hypokalemia, metabolic alkalosis, and sensorineural deafness, underscoring Barttin′s critical role in both renal and auditory health. Mutations in either CLCKNB or Barttin can compromise channel functionality, affecting currents through heteromeric channels and emphasizing the intricate relationship between Barttin and chloride channel activity.
