Bag-2 Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Bag-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Bag-2 (C-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Bag-2 protein, also known as Bcl-2-associated athanogene 2, plays a crucial role in cellular stress responses by functioning as a co-chaperone for HSC 70, a heat shock protein that assists in protein folding and protection against misfolded proteins. This interaction is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis, particularly under stress conditions, as Bag-2 helps regulate apoptosis and prevent damaged protein accumulation. Bag-2 is an evolutionarily conserved cytoplasmic protein containing putative N-terminal phosphorylation sites, which may influence activity and interactions. Notably, Bag-2 functions as a key component of the HSC 70/CHIP chaperone-dependent ubiquitin ligase complex, where Bag-2 disrupts CHIP-mediated ubiquitylation by interfering with the association between CHIP and ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme, thereby modulating protein degradation pathways. Bag-2′s ability to regulate these processes underscores importance in cellular function and potential implications in various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
