SEE ALSO...

BACE Antibody (61-3E7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BACE protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-BACE antibody (61-3E7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BACE protein, also known as Beta-Site APP Cleaving Enzyme 1, plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer′s disease by cleaving amyloid precursor protein (APP) to produce amyloid β-peptide (Aβ), a major component of amyloid plaques found in the brains of Alzheimer′s patients. The cleavage of APP by BACE is a critical step in the formation of these plaques, which are associated with neurodegeneration and cognitive decline. BACE is predominantly localized within the Golgi apparatus and endosomes, which is significant as BACE activity is regulated by the cellular environment and trafficking pathways. Understanding the localization and function of BACE is essential for developing therapeutic strategies aimed at modulating BACE activity to prevent or treat Alzheimer′s disease. BACE and related protein, Asp1, are widely expressed in human tissues, with highest expression levels found in the pancreas, highlighting BACE importance in both neurological and metabolic processes.
