ATG5 Antibody (E-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody developed to detect ATG5, also known as autophagy-related 5 (APG5) or apoptosis-specific protein (ASP). Anti-ATG5 antibody (E-9) recognizes an epitope spanning amino acids 250-275 at the C-terminus of human ATG5, ensuring reliable detection in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ATG5 is a crucial component of the autophagy machinery, a fundamental cellular process responsible for degradation and recycling of cytoplasmic components to maintain cellular homeostasis, especially under stress conditions like nutrient starvation. Located primarily in the cytoplasm, ATG5 translocates to the forming autophagosome membrane where ATG5 forms a complex with ATG12 and ATG16L1, facilitating elongation and closure of autophagosomes. This localization is essential for proper formation of autophagosomes, which sequester damaged organelles and proteins for degradation, thereby preventing accumulation of cellular debris and promoting cell survival. ATG5 plays a role in regulation of apoptosis, linking autophagy to programmed cell death pathways and influencing cell fate decisions. ATG5′s interaction with other autophagy-related proteins underscores ATG5′s importance in orchestrating complex mechanisms of cellular degradation and recycling. Anti-ATG5 antibody (E-9) enables researchers to effectively study spatial and temporal dynamics of ATG5 within cells, providing insights into regulation of autophagy and implications in various diseases such as cancer, neurodegeneration, and infections. ATG5 (E-9) antibody serves as an indispensable tool for experiments investigating localization and function of ATG5, facilitating advancements in understanding cellular homeostasis and identifying potential therapeutic targets for a range of pathological conditions.
