ATF-7IP Antibody (B-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects ATF-7IP in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ATF-7IP, also known as Activating Transcription Factor 7-Interacting Protein, is a 1,270 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene ATF7IP, playing a crucial role in gene expression regulation. ATF-7IP is primarily located in the nucleus, functioning as a key player in recruiting transcription factors to the general transcription machinery, thereby influencing transcription regulation and chromatin structure. Nuclear localization of ATF-7IP enables direct interaction with other nuclear proteins and complexes, facilitating transcriptional activity modulation in response to various cellular signals. ATF-7IP mediates MBD1-dependent transcriptional repression by recruiting the SETDB1 complex, essential for histone methylation processes. ATF-7IP stimulates SETDB1 histone methyltransferase activity and facilitates dimethylated to trimethylated H3 "Lys 9" conversion, highlighting significance in epigenetic regulation and linking DNA methylation to histone modifications. Through these roles in transcriptional regulation and chromatin dynamics, ATF-7IP serves as a significant protein for understanding gene expression mechanisms and biological process implications.
