ATF-2 Antibody (F2BR-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ATF-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). ATF-2 (F2BR-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ATF-2 protein plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression, particularly in response to stress signals, by functioning as a transcription factor that binds to specific DNA sequences known as cAMP response elements (CREs). This binding is essential for transcriptional activation of genes involved in cellular stress responses, cell proliferation, and differentiation. ATF-2 can form homodimers or heterodimers with other proteins, such as c-Jun, which enhances transcriptional regulation ability. ATF-2 undergoes post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation at specific threonine residues, which are critical for activation and stability. Phosphorylation of ATF-2 at Thr 69 and Thr 71 by stress-activated kinases is particularly important for transcriptional activity, while Myc-induced phosphorylation also contributes to stability. ATF-2 exhibits histone acetyltransferase activity, specifically acetylating histones H2B and H4, thereby influencing chromatin structure and gene accessibility. This multifaceted role of ATF-2 underscores importance in cellular responses to environmental cues and potential implications in various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.

When should the TransCruz reagent sc-242 X be used instead of the standard form sc-242?

Thank you for your question. We recommend using the TransCruz reagent form when performing ChIP or GelShift assays. This form can also be used in other applications such as Western Blot or IHC, but the dilution should be adjusted by a factor of 10 to account for the higher original concentration.
