Ataxin-1 Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Ataxin-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Ataxin-1 antibody (E-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Ataxin-1, also known as spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 protein (SCA-1), plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression and cellular signaling pathways, particularly in the central nervous system. Proper Ataxin-1 function is vital for maintaining neuronal health, and mutations in Ataxin-1 are linked to the autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 (SCA-1), which leads to progressive neuronal loss, muscle wasting, and ataxia. Ataxin-1 is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus, where Ataxin-1 interacts with key proteins such as the Purkinje-enriched leucine-rich acidic nuclear protein (LANP) and the nuclear matrix-associated protein promyelocytic leukemia protein (PML). In SCA-1, Ataxin-1 undergoes a mutation resulting in a polyglutamine expansion, leading to toxic nuclear aggregate formation that disrupts normal cellular functions and exacerbates disease pathology. Anti-Ataxin-1 antibody (E-4)′s ability to effectively detect Ataxin-1 across multiple species and applications makes this product an invaluable tool for researchers studying mechanisms underlying SCA-1 and related neurodegenerative conditions.
