ASXL1 Antibody (6E2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects ASXL1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ASXL1 antibody (6E2) is available as a non-conjugated format. ASXL1, also known as Additional sex combs-like 1, is a crucial 1,541 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene ASXL1, which plays a significant role in gene regulation. ASXL1 is a member of the Asx family and features a PHD-type zinc finger and a Leu-Xaa-Xaa-Leu-Leu (LXXLL) motif, which is essential for interaction with nuclear receptors. ASXL1 is recognized as a Polycomb group (PcG) protein, vital for maintaining the transcriptionally repressive state of homeotic genes during development. PcG proteins, including ASXL1, do not initiate gene repression but are essential for sustaining repression in later developmental stages, likely through histone methylation, which alters chromatin structure and gene expressibility. ASXL1 is predominantly expressed in the nucleus, with highest levels found in the testis, highlighting importance in developmental processes and potential implications in various diseases, including cancers where dysregulation of PcG proteins has been observed.
