SEE ALSO...

ARVCF Antibody (4B1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ARVCF protein of mouse, rat, human, canine, and monkey origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. anti-ARVCF antibody (4B1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Armadillo repeat gene deleted in velo-cardiofacial syndrome (ARVCF) is a crucial member of the p120 (ctn) subfamily of Armadillo repeat proteins, consisting of 962 amino acids and featuring a coiled-coil domain along with ten tandem armadillo repeats. ARVCF plays a significant role in cell adhesion by binding to the cytoplasmic domain of M-cadherin through its armadillo repeat region, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of adherens junctions. Additionally, ARVCF competes with p120 for interaction with the juxtamembrane domain of E-cadherin, although ARVCF is present at a tenfold lower abundance than p120 across various cell types, making detection by immunofluorescence (IF) challenging unless overexpressed. ARVCF is dually localized to cell junctions and the nucleus, indicating potential distinct functions in different cellular compartments, similar to other Armadillo repeat proteins, including p120. This multifaceted role underscores ARVCF′s importance in cellular signaling and structural integrity, making ARVCF monoclonal antibody (4B1) a valuable tool for researchers studying cell adhesion and related pathways.

Can ARVCF (4B1): sc-23874 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. Yes, ARVCF (4B1): sc-23874 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
